Angie Kingma is an Occupational Therapist and a member in good standing with COTO and CAOT. Angie is very proud to work at Trillium Health Partners, Credit Valley Hospital site, in Ambulatory Mental Health Services, the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) offering group psychotherapy (CBT, DBT, Solution-Focused Therapy).

Angie has over 20 years of experience working in a variety of mental health settings including home care, in-patient psychiatry and out-patient psychiatry. While she utilizes a variety of psychotherapeutic approaches and techniques, she tends to lean towards CBT and mindfulness-based interventions, although the therapeutic rapport is the most important factor in the change process.

  • BA (Hons.) - Honours double major degree in Gerontology & Sociology.
  • BHScOT - Bachelor of Health Science of Occupational Therapy.
  • Working in Mental Health at Trillium Health Partners, Credit Valley Hospital site, Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), formerly known as the START Program, since 2002.
  • Faculty member at the Centre for Mindfulness Studies in Toronto.
  • Completed the Certified Professional Training Program in MBCT through University of California San Diego (UCSD) Centre for Mindfulness. Practicum completed at The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH).
  • Completed Level 2 MBCT Training (Refining the Heart of Inquiry) through the Centre for Mindfulness Studies in Toronto.
  • University of Toronto Core Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy Facilitation.
  • Co-created a published MBCT for Chronic Pain pilot study through Mount Sinai Hospital. 
  • Mentor with 6-month online A Course in Mindful Living with Dr. Elisha Goldstein. 
  • Completed the Certified Professional Training in Mindfulness-based Chronic Pain Management (MBCPM) through NeuroNova Centre for Chronic Pain Management.
  • Completed 5-day Mindfulness Teacher Training Intensive with Mark Coleman and Dr. Mary Elliott.
  • Training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Trauma-Informed Therapy.
  • Created and have been facilitating the MBCT program at Credit Valley Hospital for 11+ years.  
  • Created and have been running "Mindfulness Mondays" for Trillium Health Partners Staff since 2009.
  • Personal ongoing practice in mindfulness meditation; regular retreats.
