Frequently Asked Questions
Meet the Team
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or disconnected, therapy can help. You don’t need a crisis or diagnosis to begin. Many people start therapy because something no longer feels sustainable or aligned. Others come because they’re ready to change old patterns but don’t know how. If something inside doesn’t feel right, therapy might be a good next step.
How do I get started?
Sign up through our client portal to book a complimentary 15-minute Meet and Greet. You can also reach out by email. The Meet and Greet is a no-pressure conversation where you can ask questions and decide if it feels like a good fit.
What happens when I first reach out?
Once you contact us, we will respond with next steps and offer a complimentary Meet and Greet. This gives you space to ask questions, learn about our approach, and decide whether it feels like a good fit.
Do I need a referral to book an appointment?
No. You do not need a referral to book an appointment. You can reach out directly at any time.
What if I am not sure what I want to work on yet?
That is completely okay. Many people start therapy without a clear focus. Part of the early work is helping you clarify what feels most important and where support is needed.
Can I book a complimentary Meet and Greet?
Yes. We offer a complimentary Meet and Greet so you can ask questions, get a sense of our approach, and decide how you would like to move forward.
What if I feel nervous or unsure about starting?
Feeling nervous is very common. Reaching out does not mean you are committing to anything. The first step is simply a conversation to explore your options.
What's the difference between a psychotherapist and a psychologist?
Registered Psychotherapists (RP) in Ontario provide talk therapy and specialized approaches like MBCT and trauma therapy. Psychologists can also provide therapy but are trained in psychological testing and assessment. Both are regulated healthcare professionals.
Can I see you if I'm already seeing another therapist?
This depends on the situation. Some clients work with us for specific modalities like MBCT groups or Therapy Intensives while maintaining individual therapy elsewhere. We can discuss what makes sense for your care.

Therapeutic Approaches
What types of therapy do you offer?
We offer Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS/parts work), Brainspotting, somatic and nervous-system–focused therapy, and trauma-informed care.
Our approach is integrative and experiential, meaning we thoughtfully combine these modalities based on your needs, goals, and nervous system. Sessions may include practical skills for managing thoughts and emotions, alongside deeper brain–body and experiential work to help shift long-standing patterns and support lasting change.
In addition to weekly therapy, we offer Therapy Intensives, including half-day, full-day, and multi-day sessions, for clients who want deeper, more focused work in a shorter period of time. We also offer an evidence-based 8-week Mindfulness Training program (MBCT) designed to help you step out of autopilot and build emotional steadiness in daily life.
What is MBCT and how can it help me?
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) teaches you to notice thoughts and feelings without getting caught in them. It’s particularly effective for anxiety, depression, and breaking patterns of rumination. Sessions combine mindfulness practices with cognitive strategies.
What is CBT and how can it help me?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) helps you identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns that contribute to anxiety, low mood, or feeling stuck. It’s a practical, skill-based approach that explores the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. CBT is particularly effective for managing worry, breaking cycles of negative thinking, and building tools you can use in everyday life.
What is ACT and how can it help me?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps you change your relationship with difficult thoughts and feelings rather than trying to eliminate them. Instead of fighting against discomfort, ACT teaches you to notice what’s present, clarify what truly matters to you, and take action aligned with your values. It’s especially helpful if you feel stuck, overwhelmed by control strategies that aren’t working, or disconnected from what gives your life meaning.
What is Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy?
We offer somatic focused IFS, which helps you understand and work with different parts of yourself that may be in conflict. It’s especially helpful for healing trauma, reducing self-criticism, and accessing self-compassion. This approach honours the wisdom within you.
What is Brainspotting and when is it used?
Brainspotting is a focused therapeutic technique that helps process trauma and emotional pain stored in the body. It works by identifying eye positions that connect to difficult experiences, allowing your brain to heal naturally. Many clients find it effective when talk therapy feels stuck.
Cost & Investment
How much does therapy cost in Burlington?

No. As a Registered Psychotherapist, services are not covered by OHIP. However, most extended health benefit plans provide coverage for psychotherapy.
