- What is the payment schedule for intensives?:
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required at the time of scheduling to secure your Therapy Intensive. The other 50% is due on the day of Intensive Day 1.
2. What is your Intensive Cancellation Policy?: There is a 2-week cancellation policy: Any cancellation within 2 weeks of The Pre-Intensive Interview will result in full charge of the intensive program.
3. Why should I do a Therapy Intensive instead of a normal 50-minute therapy session?: Due to the nature of typical 50-minute sessions, they only allow about 30-40 minutes of deep work. Often there are at least 5-10 minutes of “check-in” at the start of the session and usually, 5-10 minutes spent on “closing up” or “checking out” at the end of a session – this doesn’t leave a lot of time for deeper work. Therapy Intensives are different and allow more focused time to go deeper and help you find relief sooner. A 3-hour Therapy Intensive allows for 2.5 hours of depth work. That’s the equivalent of five 50-minute sessions or more than a month of therapy – in a single day! Overall, they are more efficient and for some more effective than traditional once a week therapy.
Intensives are good if you’ve been in weekly therapy for a while, but an hour a week just doesn’t give you the time you need. You may be feeling stuck, struggling with the same problem over and over again.
Intensives are also perfect for clients with busy schedules who are ready to feel better now. By setting aside a block of time to focus in on a particular concern, you can expect that you will see more progress in a shorter time frame. This may ultimately mean less time in distress, less time away from work, and more time living the life you want to have.
4. Why is the hourly rate for Intensives higher than for regular weekly sessions?: Therapy Intensives provide a focused, customized, and highly structured experience that differs from traditional weekly sessions. In an Intensive, we dedicate extended blocks of time to tackle core concerns, often compressing weeks or months of therapeutic work into just a few days. This approach requires additional preparation, in-depth planning, and post-session follow-up that goes beyond what’s typically involved in a standard 50-minute session. Because of the specialized resources, extended availability, and comprehensive support provided before, during, and after an Intensive, the overall cost per hour is set higher than the usual weekly session rate.
5. If I already have a primary therapist, can I do an Intensive as adjunct therapy?: Definitely! Therapy Intensives work very well as an adjunct therapy. If you can sign a Release of Information so that your current therapist and I can collaborate as a treatment team to best serve your needs.
6. Who Is Typically Drawn to Intensives?:- Someone looking for a more efficient and impactful way to address mental health.
- A recent event that has left them feeling unsettled or unprotected.
- Traditional therapy hasn’t given the outcomes they’ve been seeking.
- Someone who’s ready for real change and have grown tired of slow, inconsistent progress.
- People with busy schedules as intensives can provide a way to engage in therapy without the logistical challenge of weekly appointments. This is particularly appealing for busy professionals, individuals from remote areas, or those who travel frequently.
7. Is there anyone who shouldn’t have this type of therapy?: Clients with a history of psychosis including mania. Clients who do not have emotion regulation skills and respond to distress with self-injurious behaviors. Clients actively misusing/dependent upon substances. Clients with active eating disorder symptoms.
8. Can my insurance help pay for Therapy Intensives?:Therapy Intensives are not covered by insurance. However, you can contact your insurance company to see if they may reimburse a portion of the Therapy Intensive.
9. Can I see you for individual therapy after my Intensives?I do not currently have openings for individual therapy.
10. Do I have to have therapy experience to do Intensive sessions? No. If you are ready and interested in intensive therapy, we will make sure that you are prepared in your intake session.
11. Can I still see my individual therapist while having Therapy Intensives with you?Of course! We will have you sign a release of information so we can communicate with your therapist as needed.
12. When is payment due?To reserve your Therapy Intensive a 50%
non-refundable deposit is required. The remaining 50% is due on the first day of the Intensive Session.
13. What if I’m interested in a Therapy Intensive but I’m not 100% sure?Let’s schedule a time for a phone consultation. I’d be glad to set up a 20-minute consult to answer any questions and explore your concerns and individual needs to see if a Therapy Intensive may be helpful for you.
